With big windows and comfy chairs, we often end up calling our office “the apartment.” Maybe we’re patting ourselves on the back too much, but we believe that a welcoming office is the first step in fostering creativity and a little co-worker harmony. Granted, we sometimes have to pull down the shades to see our computer screens, but the extra light in cold NY winters is worth it.

The latest of a series of installations at the Flushing facility is the sign for the teens area. We designed “TEENS” cut out letters mounted on a patterned u-channel. The same pattern repeats throughout the teens area. Below are photos of the final graphics as well as the installation.

Our challenge for this project was to create and integrate a vibrant environmental graphic solution while ensuring the integrity of Queens Library’s most modern facility in Flushing. This facility was designed by Polshek Partnership Architects and won the AIA (American Institute of Architects) 2001 National Honor Award for Architecture. The Media Center is one of the areas in this facility that we are working on.

The Flushing branch of Queens Public Library is currently being renovated to include specialty areas and rooms. Epigraph’s first phase of this branch was to design construction graphics and posters leading up to the building of the new and state-of-the-art Cyber Center and Media Center.

The most recently completed area is the Cyber Center. For this section of the library, we designed a vinyl wrap for the entire wall to enclose the Center. Below are photos showing the graphics as well as the installation process.

Recently, Epigraph Studios oversaw the installation of our signage program at the Steinway branch of the Queens Public Library. The Queens Library is one of the largest library systems in the United States, which presents the daunting task of creating unique but consistent signage for each branch. As a solution, we designed guidelines for all branches, but developed site specific color schemes and patterns for each location. Specialty signage unique to each site, for example an Adult Learning Center, as well as Children and Teens areas diverge from the standard to express the local personality of the branch. For Steinway, we designed a cool green and blue color theme that works with the interior design of the branch set by the architect. Below are some pictures from the site installation.
